ETHOS

JOS designs are timeless with purpose. We believe good design is honest, thoughtfully considered, transcending through seasons and trends. Our core values are rooted in creating quality, consciously designed pieces to ensure they will be cherished for years to come.

With intentional limited runs we celebrate originality and craftsmanship over mass production. We are committed to responsible consumption, cultivating respect for the value of garments and sustainable purchasing habits of our customers.

NATURAL FIBRES

JOS exclusively uses natural fibres that are gentle on the environment.

With longevity in mind, we source reliable fibres that will withstand the test of time: ageing with grace. JOS utilises a luxurious and lightweight blend of silk and cotton.

Cotton, a renewable fibre derived from the cotton plant, is known for its strength, durability, breathability and hypoallergenic nature. Silk, a lustrous and luxurious fibre with high tensile strength is a renewable fibre that forms on a cocoon as a natural part of the life cycle of the Bombyx Mori silkworm. Silkworms feed on Mulberry leaves and typically require no chemical pesticide or fertilisers. This resulting cotton/silk fabric is lightweight, breathable, durable and offers a subtle luxurious shine.

These natural fibres made from the earth can also return to the earth at end of life, breaking down naturally without contributing to landfill.

JOS fabrics are OKEO-Tex Standard 100 certified

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a global testing and accreditation program. This certification ensures that every component of the article including the threads, buttons and other accessories are free of any harmful substances including formaldehyde, heavy metals, pesticides, phthalates, chlorinated phenols, colorants, solvents, and other chemicals.

PACKAGING

Your order will be wrapped in premium packaging that does not harm the environment. JOS uses acid free and FSC (Forest Stewardship council) certified, No Issue tissue paper sealing with a soy-based ink sticker.

As a part of the Eco Packaging Alliance, No Issue plant a tree for every order we place with them, contributing to global reforestation one tree at a time.

Whilst other brands opt for compostable corn starch post bags, JOS utilises cardboard boxes. These FSC certified are able to be reused and recycled at end of life.

GROWTH AND CONTINUAL LEARNING

At JOS it is important to us that we create our garments with intent, honesty and consciousness of our impact. The truth is, no fashion brand can truly be 100% ‘sustainable’. With that said, we believe in growth and continual learning, taking each step with intention and commitment. As we progress as a brand, we recognise and honour the process, continually finding new ways to learn, adapt and evolve. We strive to be transparent and honest with our journey, avoiding marketing terms and trends, providing customers with honesty and integrity.

OUR FACTORY

Our garments are proudly designed and sampled in Australia and produced ethically by our talented manufacturers in Guangdong, China.

We value our suppliers and the relationships we have formed with them. All clothing is handmade and as a result each garment passes through many hands to come to fruition. We respect this process and place a strong value on craftsmanship. Our regular communication and respect for one another keeps us confident in their practices and incredible quality. It is important that the people who make our clothes are treated fairly. As such we have built personal relationships and conduct audits to ensure working conditions are of the best quality.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

JOS acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional custodians of this nation past, present and future. We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land where we come together each day, the Kombumerri families of the Yugambeh Region on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
